Prayer for an End to Human Trafficking

God of freedom, beauty and truth.

We raise our voices in anguished prayer for our sisters and brothers, women and girls, boys and men, who are modern day slaves;

They are your beloved daughters and sons, exploited sexually or forced to work because of human violence and greed.

Fill us with your holy anger and your sacred passion that those who are trafficked might know healing and justice.

Hasten the coming of the day when all people and our precious earth itself will be treated, not as commodity, but as radiant images of your freedom, beauty and truth.

Amen. May it be so.

The Beatitudes

Blessed are they who have survived, for they will show us courage and hope and dare us to be their voice. (J. Christensen, U.S.)

Blessed are the poor and vulnerable, for they will become co-creators with our God, transforming our torn and fractured world of human trafficking one moment at a time. (M. Taylor, Newfoundland)

Blessed are the dispossessed and enslaved, for in time they will know the depths of freedom and belonging. (D. Boyle, Ireland)

Blessed are the parents who have lost their children through trafficking, for they will be comforted. (C. McDonald, Australia)

Blessed are those who have family and friends who get lured into being trafficked and can do nothing to make the struggle end for them, for they will be Mercy-ed. (P. Zerega, Mercy Investment Services)

Prayer to End Human Trafficking

Loving and compassionate God, we pray for the millions of victims of human trafficking.

Heal their pain, renew their hope and restore their sense of worth and human dignity.

Convert the hearts of all whose actions contribute to the exploitation of the most vulnerable members of the human family.

Touch our hearts, that we may be instruments of your justice, love and peace.
