East Dubuque Mayor John Digman signed a proclamation on January 15, 2024, recognizing January 11th as National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. In this proclamation, Mayor Digman also declared January as Human Trafficking Prevention month.

East Dubuque City Council members met with coalition member Casey Klein on January 15, 2024, to discuss the history of the coalition and its most recent advocacy efforts in East Dubuque, Illinois. Namely, the coalition has worked to raise awareness of “Angel Shots” in East Dubuque bars. When a person asks the bartender for an “Angel Shot,” it’s a signal that the person is feeling unsafe with another person in the bar. Each member of the council took home one of the coalition’s brochures describing the signs of human trafficking.
